THE ALGARVE TROPHY

Following the popularity of the event last year, the 2011 Fixby Winter Series been expanded with two extra events this year.   

Prior to four Opens in November and March, the Winter Series launches  on Thursday 7th October with a Fourball betterball competition, a qualifying round of the Algarve Trophy. 

Fixby has been selected to host one of the qualifying competitions which are being held at courses in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland and will also include the winners from similar qualifying events in Denmark and Sweden. This is a truly international Final.

The winning pair will be invited to compete in the Grand Final and enjoy 3 nights accommodation, a welcome dinner and a prize presentation gala dinner. 

The Grand Final of this tournament, sponsored by the Algarve Tourist Board, is to be held in Portugal in February 2012. The 2010 Finals were held at the Le Meridian Penina Golf Resort.

The cost of the qualifying competition is £50 per pair which can be any combination, including Juniors. The entry fee includes soup and sandwiches.

Huddersfield Golf Club members will also be able to enter the competition at a reduced fee of £30 per pair.
