English Amateur Strokeplay

We are happy to announce that Huddersfield Golf Club member Lily Hirst will be defending her English Amateur Strokeplay title at Alwoodley Golf Club next week. Lily won this prestigious title at Stonham Golf Club last year. Huddersfield member Charlotte Colley will also be competing in this event. The competition will be at Alwoodley Golf Club on Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 June and as it is so close, we are sure some of you may wish to go along and support our girls. Good Luck to Lily and Charlotte. We will keep you updated on this.

Dress Code

In the Club House

Smart casual golf wear may be worn in the Centenary Hall, Mixed Lounge and Conservatory.

Jacket & neckwear must be worn in the Dining Room, Yorkshire Bar and Halifax Room.

Smart casual golf wear may also be worn in the Yorkshire Bar but only if the Centenary Hall and Mixed Lounge are reserved for official functions.

Golf shoes may be worn in the designated area in the Centenary Hall.

Wet clothing or any headgear must not be worn in the clubhouse.

On the Course

A good standard of golfing attire is expected. Jeans, jogging suits, trainers, T-shirts and shirts with slogans are not allowed. Shorts must be tailored, of reasonable length and worn with plain white, above the ankle socks by gentlemen. Shirts tucked into their trousers/shorts.

At all times, except when an event specifies a different dress code i.e. Black Tie or Jacket and Tie, members will be permitted to wear an acceptable and respectable form of casual dress in all areas of the Clubhouse.

Please note:

  • Under no circumstances will the wearing of denim jeans with studs/rivets in any colour or fabric be permitted on the Course or in the Clubhouse.
  • Golf Shoes are prohibited in the lounge, men's bar, main entrance and staircase leading to the lower ground floor. Training Shoes are also prohibited both on the Course and in the Clubhouse.
  • Hats/Visors may not be worn in the Clubhouse.
  • T-Shirts and sweatshirts with prominent logos are prohibited at all times - both on the Course and in the Clubhouse.
  • Shorts or trousers with large patch pockets are not permitted on the Course or in the Clubhouse.
  • GENTLEMEN
    Please see the graphic below for acceptable/not acceptable form of casual dress for use on the Course and in the Clubhouse.

  • All shirts must have a collar and must not be worn outside trousers or shorts.
  • LADIES
    Please see the graphic below for acceptable/not acceptable form of casual dress for use on the Course and in the Clubhouse with the following exceptions.

  • Shirts may be worn short sleeved or sleeveless but must have a collar. Ladies golf shirts that have been designed/tailored to wear outside trousers/shorts/skirts etc may be worn. All other shirts must be tucked in.
  • Tailored shorts designed for golf, skorts, skirts and cut-offs are all acceptable forms of dress for Ladies.
  • Open toed sandals are permitted in the Clubhouse. Beach style flip flops/plastic shoes are not permitted.
