Hannah Holden and Jess Hosking were part of a successful Yorkshire Ladies first team who successfully retained the Northern Counties Trophy last week at Seaton Carew. A relatively inexperienced team with three 15 year olds and two 16 year olds, 3 of whom were making their full debuts battled hard against much more experienced teams.
Yorkshire went in to the final day 2 points behind arch rivals Lancashire with only a 5.5-3.5 point win or better win against Lancashire enough to secure top slot.
The morning foursomes led to 1.5 points each, with two matches going to the 18th hole. Yorkshire then needed 4 wins from the 6 afternoon singles matches. After a strong start by Lancashire the team rallied to return 4.5 wins, thus retaining their Northern Counties title.
They now progress to National Finals at Delamere Forest GC 16 - 20 Sep
Well done girls, you have done Huddersfield GC proud!
