McFadzean takes Captains Weekend win in dramatic playoff!
Alex McFadzean won a dramatic playoff to claim the Captains Weekend prize after Shaun Wood and McFadzean had tied at -4 after two days of great golf.
Wood showed his class having posted consecutive rounds of Nett 69 to post -4 in the clubhouse. McFadzean playing in the final group had a putt to win the tournament outright on the 18th green only to see his birdie attempt lip out.
The contest went to extra holes and with Wood finding a plugged lie in the bunker and McFadzean missing the Par 3 eighth green to the left it was all to play for. Having attempted to play the plugged and bunkered ball a couple of times Wood played his fourth shot onto the green leaving McFadzean a putt to win which came up just short. Wood was unable to convert the his putt leaving McFadzean to hole out for a bogey and claim the win.
Andrew Russell commented that the weekend had been a fantastic success and thanked all who had played and contributed to such a wonderful couple of days.
